Candidates should attempt Question 1 and 5 which are compulsory, and any THREE of the remaining questions, selecting at least ONE question from each Section.

SECTION A

1.       Write short notes on any FOUR of the following in about 150 words each:

(a)     Evolution                 (b)    gametophytic apomixes     (c) Mass selection        (d)   Hybridization   (e) Correlation and regression.

2.       (a) What is micropropagation? Describe the generalized technique of micropropagation.

3.       (A)  Describe the structure and functions of mitochondria.

(b)   How the mitochondrial function is controlled?

4.       Describe in detail the synthesis of nucleic acids and proteins.
