FORESTRY -2003, PAPER –II , SECTION A

                       Time Allowed: Three Hours             Maximum Marks: 200
Candidates should attempt Questions 1 and 5 which are compulsory, and any THREE of the remaining questions selecting at least ONE question from each Section.

SECTION A

1.       Answer any four questions from the following (not more than 150 words for each):
               (a)    Define and explain the concept of normal forest
               (b)   Indicate the essential elements of forest working plan.
                (c)    Why is Haga-Altimeter used and how is it used for measurement?
               (d)   Explain the role of village forest in forest management.
                (e)   How is forest surveying considered important in relation to chain Surveying?

2.       Define management and indicate the concept and objection of forest management.

3.       The concept of rotation in Forestry is indicated with definitions. Explain types of forest rotation. 

4.       Forest productivity is dependent on the grown increment. Explain with definitions of increment referring current and annual increment with graphical representation.
